The FVCC Facial Growing charity event is now complete. Presentation of the cheque to Cancer Research UK will be made at the FVCC presentation evening on the 24th Oct. FVCC would like to thank all volunteers and club members for their support throughout the event.
The event co-ordinator, Lewis Wannop, spoke to the website about the event.
Why I decided to raise money Cancer Research UK - ''Since the start of this year, 5 people I know have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer. Thankfully they are all making a recovery and the success of their treatment is down to the work done at charities like Cancer Research UK. It was the fact that so much of their work is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease that we wanted to raise money for them''.
On the total raised - ''Initially we aimed to raised £3,000 including gift-aid. The fact that we have managed to raise almost £5,000 given the current economic climate is absolutely fantastic. I would like to thank everybody who was kind enough to sponsor the event and a special thanks goes to the lads who took part. The intention is to do something again next year, where hopefully we can get even more people from the cricket club involved and raise even more money''.
